The UK has probably one of the most comprehensive business support networks to assist businesses in their journey to prosperity. There are a total of 38 Local Enterprise Partnerships in England.

The LEP’s are private sector led non-statutory bodies and have a somewhat mixed constitution of their makeup depending on their geography. Some are independent and accountable to their Local Authorities and others are accountable to Combine Authorities. In some cases, there are overlaps between LEP boundaries and the constituency boundaries, these overlaps will disappear in the coming years as part of a government review on LEP boundaries.

Each of the LEP’s has a front-end engagement service called the Growth Hubs. If you have had dealings with the LEP currently or previously, it’s highly likely that it’s the Growth Hub that has made the first contact through its various channels.

Forging a Unique Alliance Between Local Business and the Public Sector, the Aggregate Impact of LEPs since their launch cannot be underestimated.
